yeah, it appears that my PCI 512 is the culprit, I've always had onboard audio that I disabled in order to use the 512 but it appears the onboard is more recent (2003) and I loaded the lastest drivers and it appears to work fine with 1.3.7. The reason I did not use the onboard (at the time) was it was causing a few system performance issues, but I'll give this a try and see what happens.
