1.3 on XP hangs on export

I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I have downloaded Lame_V3.98.2 as well. (Service pack 3)
I save my project then go to export and it freezes. I have to end task from the task manager.
I even tried the stable version but that couldn't read the previous files from 1.3.7

What to do?

Probably not. You reinstall Audacity by trashing the audacity.cfg file and restart Audacity, not by dumping the whole program. If you didn't dump the config file, then the new Audacity will wake up with all the problems the old one had.

Forget MP3, can you Export As WAV? If that crashes, then you may have drive space problems. How big or long is the show? How big is your hard drive and how much space is left?

Thanks for the response. The show is actually just an 8 second intro and I have 435GB left on my drive. I would have thought the add/remove programs would have deleted everything before reinstalling. Should I do something extra?

In the old program I could export as Wav or MP3, however, I don't even see these options on the new program. It just says export, so that's what I've been using. The problem occurred yesterday. I did successfully export from the beta version last week.

Search your machine for audacity.cfg and drag that to the trash. Restart Audacity. You know you've "reinstalled" audacity when it asks you "English?" at startup.

Export should give you a Metadata panel and then a save panel from which you can select the type of export.
