possible bug - can only record at 96000

Hi… I’m a long-time Audacity user who has suddenly run into a very strange bug.
Details:
- running v 1.37 on win xp sp 2
- I can only record when my sample rate is set 96000 hz. Up until a week ago this never mattered, but now if the sample rate is anything other than 96000 I can’t record (time line just stays stuck at 0).
Any thoughts on what may be going on?
Thx much,
AD

What I would do is try deleting your Audacity configuration file which is where Audacity stores your preferences. You can find it in C:Documents and Settings<your_user_name>Application DataAudacityaudacity.cfg
Audacity will create a new cfg file when you restart it - note that this will reset all your preferences - so in particular it will revert to mono recording - so these will need to be reset.

What are you trying to record? People always start the movie after the second act.
When you restarted Audacity after the Great Deletion, did it ask you "English?" at First Birthday? If it didn't, then you're still sitting on your old config files.
