Im sure that before i had to reformat my pc the audacity 1.3 that i had before had all the effects listed in the neat sub sections part of the menu at the top, but now i have reinstalled 1.3 and all the same plugins i had before, they are all now in one massive list at the bottom of of the effects menu, making anything i need to find thats any distance down the alphabet very annoying to find as they are all bunched together. (picture attached)
I have had a look around in the settings and preferences and can't seem to find a way to change this.
Does anyone know how i can get it back to how it was??

No, you would need to download 1.3.6 if that is still available anywhere - or if you kept the installation files. But note that 1.3.6 is buggier than 1.3.7.
For 1.3.7 the developers reverted to the older list layout (which some of us users prefer). See this thread for a little more insight:
