I accidently recorded two long audio tracks on top of each other. Is there anyway I can extract the second audio file from the first audio file to make it separate?

Many ways.
Use can
- shift the track horizontally
- use copy paste operations, even to new project window (do with care; also time consuming, as the following options are)
- there is Export Selected (after you select a track by clicking on empty place under the tracks name)
(or somethink like that)
- you can mute some track(s) before export
- you can "Save" and "Save As" under different name.
From each of them, you then delete the tracks you do not like to be there.
(never manipulate project files from file explorer or like;
remember project consist of two things: projectname.aup file & projectname_data directory, and you can not do any manipulation by those things)
(any corrections?)
If you have long recordings, try that first with few minutes garbidge recordings.

I accidently wrote two long essays in a single text file. Can I do anything to separate them?
Yes, some of the above suggestions work. (And text files are less dangerous then Audacity projects.)
