For my job I'm kind of a mechanical engineer, and I'm always surprised (or shocked ) to see how end-users abuse and torture your design.

I guess the same applies to software.... what I usually do: I record a live-performance, and try to put as many info in the file "on the fly" as this saves me a lot of time afterwards in searching and marking songs. I'm all alone behind the soundboard, so I mix the band in all aspects: I have to keep eye contact with the musicians, mix volumes, play with effects and tone settings, watch the audience.... oh and by the way I also want to make a recording. So that has to go as easy as possible. I can't permit getting distracted by the computer.

This is why I changed some shortcuts. In this example: M is much easier than Ctrl-M.
Afterwards I edit the labels I set to their respective song names, save the original and export the whole bunch as separate MP3 files. To get the first song also I use the "export audio before first label" option, and give it the name of the first song (instead of the project name by default). By doing this I am not "shocked" (I quote) because I get the first track as well.

I tried using customised short-cut keys for a while, but found that watching out for unpredictable things happening in Audacity was more distracting than having to find the default key combinations. Fortunately the Ctrl key is at the very corner of my keyboard so I can hit that without looking (but sometimes I miss the "M" )

Unpredictable? Uhm, right. That's just what I experienced now, to my surprise. Because in 1.3.4 just M worked fine. Apparently something else is fixed that caused this new bug.
