Recording

Post by betsyemhuff » Mon Aug 29, 2011 7:16 am

I would like to use Audacity to record some stuff off of the following website: www <dot> siago <dot> org and I need help in doing so. I would really appreciate it if someone could e-mail me the steps as to what to do to record, and after recording how to transfer everything to my Windows Media Player to burn a cd. My e-mail address is as follows: betsyemhuff <at> yahoo <dot> com

Thank you very much.

I just went to the two links, and they do not make any sense to me whatsoever!!!! I need someone to go to the following web site, siago<dot>org, and let me know if I can record the stuff from the web site using Audacity. After that, I need someone to e-mail me using English step-by-step on how to record, and then step-by-step on how to burn a cd after I have everything recorded. Please do NOT send me any links. Too confusing. I am NOT tech savvy when it comes to stuff like this.

Then you need to buy software that gives you telephone support or extended one-to-one e-mail support.

If you can't read the links and tell us what you don't understand and fundamentally:

* what version of Audacity you have (Help > About Audacity)
* what operating system you are on (for example, Windows XP)

then we can't begin to give you steps. Without the information above, it would run to 20 pages and you wouldn't be able to follow it for the detail. That's how it is. Please start by answering those two bullet points above.

Of course, we assume you have the permission of the site owner to record or nothing in their terms and conditions forbids this.

Gale,

I don't have Audacity yet. Before I download it, I need to know what version to download; etc. I didn't understand anything about the two links!!!! I need plan and simple steps!!!! I don't have the money to go out and buy anything either!!!!

If you can't e-mail me with step-by-step instructions in simple English, can someone call me? I just need step-by-step instructions; for example, 1. What is the first thing I need to do to record, or how do I step up Audacity to record? 2. After that, do I go to the web site, or what? I am soooo frustrated!!!

Removed phone number and personal details

From:
http://audacityteam.org/contact/
There is no technical support by e-mail or telephone
If you have Windows 98 or ME, download this:
http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/au ... 1.3.13.exe

If you have Windows 2000, XP, Vista or 7, download this:
http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/au ... 1.3.13.exe

Then tell us what version of Windows you have (that is, which one of the above). We cannot help you further without that information.

Also please note on the site you want to record from:
Recordings are copyright of the respective organist...Please contact the performer before attempting to download any recording. Performers may be reached through the webmaster.
Please let us know that you have permission of the organist(s) before asking us any further questions.

Gale,

I got Audacity downloaded. I have Window XP 2000, and, yes, I do have permission from a few of the organists to record.

I want to know why no one can help me out here by helping me out with step-by-step instructions. The links you keep sending are Greek to me. They don't make any sense to me. I am the type of person that needs step-by-step instructions, and not links!!!! What don't you understand about this????

Please be aware that people that help out on this forum are all volunteers. Swearing at them is unlikely to encourage a helpful response.
Also, replies may not be instant as people have other things to do with their time, such as eating, sleeping, going to work, having a life....

Step 1. You need to install Audacity. To do this, double click on the "audacity-win-unicode-1.3.13.exe" file that you have downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Please confirm when you have successfully completed this step.
