Audacity for commercial use

Post by wolfscribe » Fri Jun 03, 2011 3:56 pm

Hi all,

I am brand new to Audacity. I just downloaded the beta along with all the LAME and Nyquist plug-ins last week.

I am a poet and am looking to use Audacity to record some of my poetry as spoken word, and then mess with the recording using the effects and edits for sound texture.

If I use Audacity in the above manner and then sell the recording of my original work but edited and altered using Audacity and LAME effects, do I have to credit Audacity or any of the creators of the effects?

Having read through a bunch of the info, knowing that Audacity is freeware, I am fairly certain I don't have to give them any % of the profits, but I am not sure about credit.

Being a fellow artist, I just want to make sure that I respect their work and intent in my use of the program. This being said, I would have no issue crediting Audacity or makers of the effects since, even just by playing with it as newbie, it is such an awesome program. Just not sure if it is required to credit them and wanted to check.

Thanks to whoever can provide guidance, and to the Audacity team for developing and offering such a great program free!
