I don't understand how you are supposeed to get a good mix if you can not eq tracks in the play mode!!!!! if you have to stop playing tracs and pull up the equlizer and guess at the adjustments you to make and then start playing the tracs agian, it will take ten years to properly wg a trac, and a hundered years to eq the entire song before your ready to mix down your tracs!!!???? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder or in this case in the ear or the producer / engineer!!!! seems we need to be able to eq while listening to the tracs!! to get it right!

Perfectly correct. However, Audacity doesn't do anything in real time except record, play and some timer functions.

I'll see about adding your name to the "Live" feature request.

Although Audacity does not do "real-time" processing, there is a "Preview" button on the Equalizer effect.
The default preview length is very short, but can be set to a more useful length in "Edit menu > Preferences > Playback".

Personally I agree that there needs to be at least some sort of EQ/tone control that can be used in real time, even if it's only a basic treble/mid/bass.
