hey all,

At long last my fab 'Book of Audacity' has hit store shelves, and
Kindle and other ebook editions, all full of cool Audacity howtos plus
tuning Linux and Windows computers for audio production. Linux
users, it even tells how to use JACK with Audacity.

We're looking for reviewers, and what better place to find them than
here? Please contact me offlist, or Colt Blackmore <[email protected]>
to get a review copy.

Carla

Hi Carla,

I have already been in correspondance with your Editor, Tyler, following his posting on the Wiki Talk page on Books about Audacity. See: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Talk: ... t_Audacity

I provided him some initial feedback and corrections there,, plus some more in emails to him later this week. I assume he will be sending those on to you. You have been somewhat caught out by the UI changes in the recent transition from 1.3.12 to 1.3.13 Beta - I have pointed out to Tyler the ones that I have spotted.

Hi waxycylinder,

I saw that, thanks. I don't talk about backups in every chapter, they're in there. A big headsmack on using Normalize on stereo tracks, that was a great catch, and when to apply DC offset.

The 1.3.13 beta was released this month, so yeah, I'm not up to date on UI changes :)

best,
Carla

And just to be correct, it's 1.3.12 Beta to 1.3.13 Beta. Neither one is a Release Product in spite of being the only one(s) that actually work.

No need for a headsmack Carla - it's just the way that Audacity does things.

My understanding is that this behaviour is not the same in many other audio applications, where using Normalize would be the correct order of the day.

And it only ever got documented (and understood properly - well by me anyway) after some long searching discussions on the forum a while back and IIRC some emails with the devs.
