Custom "snap to" times possible?

Sorry if this already has been asked a thousand times before but I've used the search function and couldn't find an anwer to this question.

In the German forum I get frequently the question how to set the "snap_to" function at the lower border of the Adacity main window to a custom time value.

Example: A user creates a "click_track" (or has an already recorded drum track) and then wants to time-shift some bass pattern from sampled audio pieces according to the clicks or beats. To be able to do this a "snap_to" time of "Pal_Frames_(1/25_seconds)" is too little and "1_second" is too big.

Is there a way how the user can set the "snap_to" time to a value equal to the distance of the clicks or beats? Or is there any other solution known?

Are you in the wrong Audacity? My Audacity 1.3.12 has the ability, via drop-down menus to the right of the times to select formats that get down to .001 seconds.

Yes, but the question was: how do I set the time in a way that "Snap To" snaps e.g. every 0.66 seconds? In the drop-down menu in my Audacity_1.3.13-alpha there is no way where I can define "0.66 seconds". Please read the questions carefully and do not just write any superficial blah.

Search this page for "snap to:" http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... e_Requests

The option "Snap to beats" has got my vote.
I'd also like the related feature of the time-line displaying "bars and beats".

Audacity could be a really powerful tool for working with samples, but pretty well rules itself out through the lack of this feature.
I don't think that the developers have any idea how popular this feature would be, simply because people that do this type of work don't use Audacity because it hasn't got this feature.

steve: Search this page for "snap to:" ...
Thanks (and sorry), the "Features List" is where I should have looked first.

Nothing to be sorry about Edgar - it's a big list. Have you added your vote?

This is "the other edgar" (sorry edgar-rtf, when I joined I did not know of your handle, folks could think of me as edgar5 <grin>), anyway...

I think I read the aforementioned FR page section about 1.5 years ago and may well have voted on some of the specifics but know no way of telling if I have voted for any specific feature. Other than starting to keep a list here at home, is there any way I can know what I have voted on?
