Noise Removal Preview and the Track Gain Slider

The setting of a track's Gain slider seems to affect the Noise Reduction effect, and the result is different in Preview from when applying the effect.
Let's say I sample the noise profile with the slider at 0. Then I preview the Noise Reduction effect with the slider at +10. The noise is reduced without obliterating some low-level signal that I want to preserve. I hit OK. Then I listen to the track and the effect is overdone - the low-level signal is wiped out. To hear the same result in Preview, I have to have the slider set to 0.
