How do I play sound and record at the same time?

Post by marvinphythian » Sun Dec 19, 2010 2:53 pm

Hi I am a hypnotherapist and I was wondering how I can record my voice whilst playing music to my client and have both music and my voice ona file that I can burn to a cd.

Can I use a headset and mic or do I need a separate mic and sound desk set up?

There are a number of ways to accomplish this, but probably the easiest is to do it the same way as if making a podcast with voice and music. See here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Creat ... h_Audacity

That's helpful thanks but what about a microphone for a professional sounding track?

Can I just buy a usb microphone headset or stand alone and record my voice after importing the sound or do I need to buy a mixing desk and a separate mic with lead?

Many thanks
