Is Audacity what I need to...

I would like to rcord records, tapes, You Tube audio and video and do some editing and mixing. For example I want to insert sound bites at certain points of a video and run some music in the backround. How does the program handle these tasks?

Audacity does not handle video. For all the rest check the links provided by bill and browse the wiki for other tutorials (on the top blue banner on this page you have some links under "Click the underlined links for quick answers:")
