After cutting, how do I save the file so the file size won't increase? My 7 meg file increased to 12 meg after cutting some audio out, and I want it to be no larger than 7 meg. Thanks. :)

What format was the original file in (WAV, MP3, etc.)? How did you save the new copy? Did you do File > Export? Was the original file mono but you saved it in stereo?

We need a little more info than that... What was the original format of the imported file? was it mono? 16 bits or 32 bits? did you export in the same bit depth?

Windows Media is a highly compressed audio system. If you open a WMA file and do almost anything to it, it's going to get bigger, or if you leave it the same size, it may get damaged and sound funny. You loaded FFMpeg into Audacity, right? See if it will let you export a new WMA file and tune the compression so the sizes come out right. I'm trying this myself.

Yeah. Here it is. File > Export > WMA > Options > bitrate. Keep reducing the bitrate until the size comes out right. Audacity doesn't directly edit most files. It converts the music to an internal format and then you have to Export a whole new file.
