Re: Audacity interface naming question.
version 10 (big)+1
Still confused about Gale's concept of adding an image--not sure where or why. Could someone stick any old thing in where they envision this graphic so I give better attention?

Re: Audacity interface naming question.
I think this stems from an e-discussion we had somewhere a long while ago now. I, jokingly, suggested an image of a teacher (with blackboard) as a graphic to go with the Tutorials - I wish I'd never mentioned it.Edgar wrote:Still confused about Gale's concept of adding an image
-1 for adding an image
Peter.

Re: Audacity interface naming question.
I've applied the interim changes to the Manual.
@ Peter:I thought you were quite serious about an image - asking for an extreme image in order to get a more subtle one approved
?
Just as users like big green download buttons, I think they might appreciate stronger signposting for the tutorials. My impression is that we haven't got it quite right yet, so I guess sometime I will have mock up some ideas.
On the whole though, this seems a clear improvement. Thanks for starting the ball rolling, Peter.

Re: Audacity interface naming question.
Gale,
Thanks for implementing this interim version:
1) I changed my mind about an image after the e-discussion that we had when the proposal was made. I prefer not to have an image, I believe that it would add visual clutter.
2) I really like the "More Help ..." change
Please see my discussion page in the manual for a fuller response to your comments: interim changes
Can I suggest that we do not lengthen this thread (which we hi-jacked anyway
) - but rather either continue the discssions in the manul talk (or my user pages as now) - or start a new clean thread.
Peter.

Re: Audacity interface naming question.
OK I think Ed preferred Forum, but don't let's extend this topic anymore. I've commented on three of your points on your Forum user page.waxcylinder wrote:Can I suggest that we do not lengthen this thread (which we hi-jacked anyway) - but rather either continue the discssions in the manul talk (or my user pages as now) - or start a new clean thread.

Re: Audacity interface naming question.
I just find it so much easier to read and follow on a forum. Doing discussion on the wiki requires extra hassles.Gale Andrews wrote: OK I think Ed preferred Forum

Re: Audacity interface naming question.
Since we have now made these proposed changes, I will lock this thread, but I have started a new thread on the forum to enable us to continue the discussion on improvements to the front page of the manual as Edgar has requested.
