Problems with Cut Preview

Post by DickN » Fri Oct 01, 2010 2:37 pm

I have 2 tracks, 1st one is muted. If both are selected, Cut Preview is muted for both tracks and the Play button stays pushed after the silent playback.

Also, occasionally when I hit 'c' to preview a cut, a label is created for the selected range and the 'c' is inserted as text. This is persistent when it's happening, but I haven't yet identified the conditions that produce it. It might involve having the label track included in the selection, but when I deselected the label track it didn't correct the problem.

Thanks. This is already listed as Bug 231. Only the top track plays (or doesn't play if muted) and otherwise mute/solo state isn't respected.

If you have the label track focused with the yellow border (selected or not) a label will be produced with cut preview. That's expected and is one of the issues that you get if you allow a label to be created in a focused label track just by typing (rather than having to use the Add Label at Selection shortcut first of all).

I can't at the moment get it to produce a label after typing "C" unless the label track has focus.

Regarding the problem with creating spurious labels with keypresses which should launch events instead, I have a horrible problem with this about the only keypress that "usually" DOES NOT cause this problem is the spacebar (but even occasionally it happens too). I finally went through the entire keyboard preferences and removed all single key shortcuts (with the exception of Play) – for almost all of them I was able to make them ctrl+<KEY>. I realize that this is a non-optimal solution for most users.

P (or some other customised single key shortcut for Pause) also does not cause the problem if the track is playing or recording.
