Previewing result of deletion before deleting

Am I nuts, or did I read somewhere that you can select a region (and maybe do a cut), and then listen to the track(s) with the selected region deleted? I even think I remember there being a way to set how many seconds on each side of the selection to play. But darned if I can find the writeup now! The place I found this had gobs of useful information, but apparently I neglected to bookmark it.

You want Preview Cut. I do not see it in any menu but it can have a shortcut key. There is a setting in prefs which controls the pre- (and seperately post-) preview times.
