Exporting from Audacity

Post by theseus75 » Thu Aug 26, 2010 2:09 am

This is similar to another post I just made, but dissimilar enough to warrant another thread methinks.

I'm wondering if I record in Audacity, export to, say, mp3, and then edit in another application from which I'll have to export again, is that all going to result in a loss of quality? I know that when you edit a .jpg over and over you lose a little after a while, so I'm not sure if loss would be the result here for the same reason.

I suppose, that being the case, I could simply export in a lossless format, but it would be good to know anyway.

Thanks.

You are correct. Stick with lossless formats or you'll be loosing a bit of sound quality every time.

Okay, so it sounds like I can export from Audacity as lossless, do something like add effects in another app, and then export to whatever format without suffering a loss. Good to know.
