OS 9 Preferences issues

Post by kelfos » Tue Aug 17, 2010 3:36 pm

Looking for anyone still using Audacity 1.0 for OS 9. Having issues with the options available to me in my I/OPreferences. If I choose USB Audio as my Recording Device (there is not USB Codec offered), it defaults to External Mic, with no options; and I get an Error, telling me to change my settings. So when I change my Recording Device to Built-In, it allows me to select 'Sound In' (there's no Line In), but the signal/waveform doesn't register.

Thoughts?

I am not on a Mac, but what USB device are you trying to record from? Does it support OS 9? It if does, try selecting it in the OS 9 Control Panel (there should be a "Sound" section somewhere). Then restart Audacity.

Also you could consider Linux Ubuntu (an up-to-date free operating system) which would allow you to use the current Audacity 1.3.12 Beta:

<<<Linux Ubuntu>>>

Will that run on Motorola 68000 architecture?

I just took a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_9, saw a lot of PPC machines listed as supported by OS 9 so thought Ubuntu was worth a suggestion. As to your question, no idea without asking an Ubuntu expert, but I would assume yes if that chip is running on a PPC machine on OS 9.
