Incessant Humming...

Post by myvoiceisdeep » Mon Jan 21, 2008 10:45 pm

While wearing head phones as I'm standing by to record, there is an incessant humming heard. This humm is also heard in the redording. Is this correctable or could this be a microphone problem. The mic is a Rode Podcaster. Please help!!

Most likely it's either a problem with the mic (test it with another computer to rule that out), a noisy environment (it's amazing how "used to" noises you can get when you live with them), or a poor power supply from your USB port (try using a different port).

Do any of those help?

Thanks so much. I'll try using a different port. I'll take my mic to a friends studio and try it with their computer systems. I believe the humm is definately a result of a that you've mentioned except the enviornment. The mic is ultra sensitive though and picks up everything. Thanks again for the response. I'd given up hope that anyone would know. Out of 78 views you were the only one that had a clue. Thanks immensely!
