Streaming audio recording in 1.2.6

Post by the fool » Sun Aug 19, 2007 9:14 am

Hi,

I've been using audacity for a year. However, after my system crashed, I formatted and installed all programs again.

After installing audacity(1.2.6), I began recording streaming audio. I noticed that the output volume increases itself to the maximum limit! I've never seen this happen before. What settings do I have to adjust to stop that?

A few more questions....What are the best possible settings for streaming audio? or for that matter recording anything thru the computer speakers. ;)
I use Sound Max Digital Audio as my sound filter. Hope that helps.

PS: Thank you and sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere.

The best possible settings are the settings that work right. This will be different from signal to signal, most likely.

If you're clipping on your recordings, turn the input gain down in Audacity (the slider should be near the meters at the top).

I suppose the best settings will be maximum output volume and then set the input volume so the peaks on your streaming recordings occur at -3 dB (about .5).
