Is it possible to add reverb to a given track on the Beta version?

Yes, but you'll need to find and install a 3rd party reverb plug-in. What you use will depend on what operating system you have.

Freeverb and GVerb seem to be pretty popular.

GVerb seems to come with 1.3.7. I can't tell if that's a platform specific thing.

Both Gverb and Freeverb are difficult to get a good sound out of. Perhaps that is why they are no longer included with 1.3.9. I did a search for a decent Mac-compatible free reverb plug-in a few months ago and came up with two. But if the OP is on Windows there may be more choices, and if on Linux fewer choices.

I prefer Freeverb to G-verb, but both are capable of decent results with a bit of tweaking. I would definitely recommend applying "wet" reverb to a duplicate of the track, then mixing the original (dry) track with the reverb (wet) track, rather than trying to guess the wet/dry mix. I find that both these reverbs tend to be rather too bright, but that can be tweaked by using Eq on the "wet" track.

For Linux (in no particular order):

G-Verb
TAP Reverberator
Calf reverb
Impulse convolver
g2reverb
Jconv
Sox reverb
Invada LV2 reverb

Not all of these are fully compatible with Audacity, but the first 4 definitely are, and SOX definitely isn't (it's a command line program).

I'm using WindowsXP Media Edition (don't giggle, it came with the desktop) and the Beta 1.3 of Audacity

I downloaded the DirectX version of Anwida DX Reverb Lite, however I'm not quite sure how to interface it with Audacity. I see no reference to it in any of the Audacity menus.

You need the VST version, in order for it to work with Audacity. - Use the VST version download link for Windows, in the wiki page that Bill linked to.

Extract the .dll file from the .zip and put it in Audacity's Plug-Ins folder (C:Program FilesAudacityPlug-Ins). It will appear in the Effect menu, below the horizontal line.
