There are several downloads for lamefile . Which do I use for free that will work for audacity to playback audio info.

It depends on your operating system. Go to http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/ and read the fine print.
If you are on Windows, for example, you will need Lame_v3.98.2_for_Audacity_on_Windows.exe. Run this to create your .dll file.
However, I think lame is used to encode (store), not to decode (play) audio info.dlgilbert1 wrote:... that will work for audacity to playback audio info.
