Static crackle/distortion
I'm recording Vinyl mixes through the master 2 output on a vestax mixer, and berhinger device to my mac. Even keeping the master level, and the gain very low, I'm getting a static crackle/distortion which seems to be directly linked to the volume. I've tried keeping the mic level down too but it doesn't seem to help much. I'm no technical genius and was wondering if anyone might have any tips?

<<<vestax mixer>>>
Model numbers are good. Also good is a detailed explanation on what the turntable is and how you have it connected.

Why are you using the Behringer and which one is it?

What happens if you take one of the outputs of the mixer and go straight into the Line-In of the Mac with one of these?

Switch the Mac Preferences to Line-In and watch the Apple blue patch volume meter when you play the music. Do you get bouncing lights somewhere in the upper third? You may need to adjust the Mac preference volume.
