Audacity 1.38, issues after using generate silence.

I'm using audacity 1.38 with windows XP 32bits. Everytime i use generate silence it does zoom out, also if i have 2 tracks, and the second is in the middle (lets say at 10 seconds it starts) with no audio data before, if i use generate silence at the beggining of the track (at 10 to 10,2 seconds) the rest of it (from 10,2 to end) goes to the start (time 0 seconds) and becomes messed.
Don't know if it is suposed to be this way, but sure isn't pleasing.
Thank You for any help!

This is a known bug - there are other threads about this on the forum.

the zoom problem is already fixed in the CVS repository and will be included in the next release.

But until then, a handy work-around after you insert silence is Control or Apple-E to zoom into the selection (the silence) and Control or Apple-3 to zoom back out just a little bit. This almost always puts you where you think you should have been in the first place.
For one of the other problems, make sure Snap is turned off in the lower part of the edit window.

Are all your clips at the same sound standard? Audacity isn't a very good standards converter. If you try adding 24-bit silence at the end of a 16 bit clip, odd things may happen.

That should not happen.
I've occasionally noticed similar behaviour but have been unable to find a way to reliably reproduce the effect.
If you can give a step-by-step method that will enable the developers to reproduce the problem then they should be able to fix it quite quickly. It is extremely difficult for them to fix something that they can not reproduce.

Just found another problem, when i use the screen shot tool. the "device toolbar" disapears.
Until now i could always reproduce the same results after using "slpit new".
Using split new
Using generate silence

I can't reproduce the issue on Audacity 1.3.9
Try the latest available version of Audacity for your operating system. You can download it here:
