Files without extension not visible throught File->Open

Using Ubuntu, Audacity 1.3.5-beta. When I look to open files through the File->Open menu, where I am told to "Select one or more audio files...", the files that do not have extensions are not displayed for selection. This is with "All Files" selected at the bottom. So "blah.wav", "blah.x", "blah.greendonkey", ".blah" will all show up, but "bla" will not. Is there some way to fix this?

What sort of file is "bla" ?

Doesn't matter. bla could be anything. The point is "bla" has no extension, i.e. no "." in the name of the file. Such files do not show up in the list of files to select to open. With "All files" option selected all files should be displayed. No?

I just realized I should be posting to Audacity Unstable (1.3.X), doh.
