Parameters of mp3 export in chains

Post by blackangel » Mon Jan 19, 2009 5:35 pm

Hello 2 all.
I would like to have a chain that apply's compresor and export's the file as mp3 to a specific smb network place.
Is this possible?

Well, my real only question is how to make it export into a folder located in another computer that is in my smb network?
Can i specify this in the parameters of the mp3 export command in "edit chains"?

Thanks.

(ps. i'm using Audacity 1.3.5 beta... sorry if i posted in the wrong place)

Well.. what i wanna know is if it is or not possible to set in the parameters of the "export as mp3" command of the chain i created the directory to where i want it to be exported to.

My chain would look like this (more or less):

01 - compressor - Threshold=-12.000000 Ratio=2.000000 Attack....(etc)
02 - ExportMp3 - (and here i would like to specify something like: "dir = smb//network_pc/dir" but i don't know how...)

Do you know what i mean?
Is it possible?

Thanks.
Greetings,
BlackAngel.

Audacity creates a folder called "cleaned" in the directory where the files that you select for batch processing are located.

Hello Steve,
thanks for your replys.

I had seen that it does export the file to a "cleaned" folder (in my case to the desktop).
But i really would like it to be directly exported to another place (as i told you to another computer in the network)

Is there any way i can do it?

Best Regards. ;)

I've not got a system to test this on, but I would guess that if you move the files to be processed to the other computer, then the "cleaned" folder will be created there. There is no user option to configure the export directory.

Hello.
Well, since i'm trying to record direcly and not to import it doen't help...
Anyway, i also had estrange problems with Audacity.. (i know it is for sure not the correct place to report it but i hope it will be read by someone that can make use of it), in short, Audacity stoped recording for some seconds for no aparent reason..
I was trying to use it to record a 1 hour program (I work in a radio station and it should simulate a life program that should be recorded and putted on air at a certain time) but 1st time i had a blank of about 10 seconds at minute 45 and 2nd time at minute 15 ... can't explain why... I have now started to use Ardur (with Jack) and i have absolutly no problem... i even did a test recording of 12 hours and it was just fine...
I'm using a HP Proliant server with ubuntu 8.10 and a Creative sound blaster 5.1

Anyway.. Thanks for your time and efort.
Greetings.

Confused now - I thought you were using chains for batch processing, or are you using chains to process the current track? If the latter, then simply miss out the export step from the chain and export after the chain has completed.

Without more information I've no idea why either.

Another good program, though a different sort of program to Audacity. As a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) it is not designed for actually editing audio files. It is quite common for people to use Ardour for recording, multi-track mixing and real time effects, and to use Audacity for wave editing. Unfortunately there are still problems with using Audacity with JACK (JACK is great with Ardour). If you need an audio editor that works with JACK, try Sweep. (Sweep can also do "scrubbing" which can be really useful).
