No Playback
When try to playback something I record, It says:
Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate.
Also, when I play it as an ogg file, there are clicks in the audio.

Re: No Playback
Update: If I start audacity with "aoss audacity", record silence, it plays back. If it's sound, no such luck.

I was looking for the solution of exactly the same problem, but I see, that since it's been for over 20 days that you posted your request, nobody seems to know the solution.
I don't like it this way.

Re: No Playback
I don't think anyone has seen this.
Re: No Playback
I now get the same message when trying to record, so recording is impossible, and plaback doesn't work, so there's no need to keep it on my pc.
Re: No Playback
Install ALSA if not already installed.
Go to "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" and select "ALSA default" for playback and recording devices.
You will need a mixer application (such as alsamixergui) to select the recording source and adjust levels.

Re: No Playback
Well at least you have the audio driver sorted out now, so it's just a matter of getting the audio input selected.
It may be worth having a look at "Sound Recorder" - this is a very simple Linux application for recording sound (a bit like the Windows Sound Recorder). If you can get that working it will give you a good insight into how to set up for Audacity.

Re: No Playback
Tried Krec, and it doesn't work at all, sound recorder (with or without capitals) does not appear in the repo's, so I can't try.stevethefiddle wrote:Well at least you have the audio driver sorted out now, so it's just a matter of getting the audio input selected.

I'm a little hopeless, because I'm struggling with this problem for over a jear, so I think I have to give up the idea of ever recording sound on a linux machine.
Re: No Playback
What distro are you using?
For the 'buntu's, Sound Recorder is in the Universe repo.
