(VERY) Good news is, after over a year trying to get sound input from my spdif input... on my MiaMidi snd card thru Ubuntu (Windows XP works fine), Audacity works, i.e., I can input digital sound (I think I have a problem w/Jack, etc.). But now it only records for 0.6 sec... I found some other people had similar problem/s, & the reply to them was "Look in "Help > About Audacity" - you should be using Audacity 1.3.7 not 1.2.x." Problem here, I am using Audacity 1.3.7. So what now? (I installed it yesterday, 7.20.09, & it did work then). Also, when I record, it does not use the track I set up, but creates a new one... is there something I can do to change this?
Thanks much.
Henry

In 1.3 to append to the end of your existing track just hit CTRL+R or CTRL+Record

Hi WC,
Thanks!
I got the record to work... for desired duration, evidently I had the default parameter control button set to "end," (at the bottom of the window,) which I changed to "length," & that seemed to do the trick. It was apparently too obvious for me,

Henry,
I am having the exact problem with Audacity in ubuntu. Unfortunately, the selection of "length" over "end" is not working.
Does anyone have a solution they might suggest?
FYI -- I am using Audacity v1.3.7 (Unicode), and ubuntu v9.04

I found that reducing the recording sample rate fixed this problem for me. Mine was only recording about 0.4 sec though.
