Export Multiple to iTunes

I have recorded a cassette and placed (and named) labels for each of the songs. When I then try to Export Multiples, the Edit Metadata screen pops up and after filling in some data and hitting OK, I go right back to the Export Multiples screen. At this point I'm a loop and can't get it to export. My goal is to see the cassette show up in iTunes just like my CDs do, that is with an album title and individual tracks therein.

You know they don't really do that, right? There are no titles on a Music CD. iTunes inspects the structure, timing, and other characteristics of your CD and looks up the titles, album name, and album art (if any) on GraceNote®.

Anyway, I can hear the other helpers jumping up and down about Audacity 1.3 working a lot better at this than 1.2 ever did. 1.3.7 is getting to be a much better program with loads more and better features than 1.2

If you have OS-X 10.5 Leopard on an Intel machine, there are no "stable" 1.2 programs for you/us. Audacity 1.2.5 has some serious problems with that combination.

Thanks Kos for the info but this doesn't answer my question. Why am I caught in this loop and unable to get the export to occur? I am using V 1.3.7 on an Intel Mac with OS X Version 10.5.6 and running into this problem. Any suggestions?

Go into Preferences (from the Edit menu) and switch off the option to "show Metadata Editor prior to export step"
It is probably in the "Import/Export" tab.

i've been able to digitize vinyl albums and get the individual cuts into iTunes, but i have to do it one-by-one. i can record a whole side, then select a cut, and extract it in mp3 or aiff format to my desktop. Then drag the icon to iTunes. The name can then be found in the "name" column and if i enter the artist, i can find it under "artist." Alternately, i have recorded a whole side and extracted the whole side in either aiff or mp3. if this is loaded to an iPod, the entire side is "one" tune. it's a lot of work to identify every tune on an album and move them around and then group them, but it can be done.

All you need to do is to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track.

Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command (available from the File drop-down) to export a multiple set of WAVs, MP3s or whatever.

I can't get the Insert Label function to work. I move the cursor to the correct point and select Insert Label from the Project menu but nothing happens. I'm not prompted to enter a name.

Those two are different. Do you get the new track on the bottom with the marker on it and it just doesn't ask you for more information?

Are you using Mac/Intel/leopard (OS-X 10.5)? Then you are strongly urged to delete Audacity and upgrade to Audacity 1.3. Don't forget the config file. Go > Home > Library > Application Support > audacity (kill the whole folder). The fresh Audacity should ask you "English?" at first birthday.

Audacity 1.2 has some serious problems with the latest Macs.

Thanks Koz, I managed to get it sorted. I just hadn't seen the little red box that comes up to input the track text.
