Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could help me with this. I have successfully downlaoded audacity to use as a slow downer for transcribing fast bits of music. I Import the file (fine) slow it down (fine) and thenpress play. I am then given the pop up window saying
Error while opening sound device check output device settings and project sample rate. Im sure its worked before and now t seems to now want to let me playback using the edirol soundcard. Its an Edirol FA-66 by the way.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as its driving me nuts!!

Thanks
John

Unless otherwise told to, a good place to start with problems like this is to set everything to the Music CD data standard; 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Set that in Audacity > Preferences, restart, and temporarily start a new project.

Then go into Go > Utilities > Audio-Midi Setup and make sure the same the same numbers are selected and the correct devices are listed. Audacity wakes up at first birthday in 44100, 32-floating, Mono and not everybody supports that standard.

<<<I cant uninstall it properly.>>>

By "it" you mean Audacity, then you almost certainly did it wrong. You "reinstall" Audacity by finding and trashing the audacity.cfg file.

Maybe here...

/User/koz/Library/Application Support/Audacity/audacity.cfg

Start or Restart Audacity and it should ask you "English?" You just reinstalled Audacity.

I have the identical problem. But I don't have an audacity configuration (.cfg) file anywhere on my Mac (OSX 3.9) so I can't uninstall Audacity. Is this the only way to uninstall it? I've checked that my Audacity preferences and the settings in the Audio Midi Manager are identical and they are.... so I'm stumped, at present......

If you go back far enough, all the rules change. Your file isn't called audacity.cfg.

Trash Mac Audacity Preferences
