ok first off i have no experience with audacity, im computer services and have been trying to figure out this problem.

when recording one of the professors had some form of general error causing the computer to crash.

the recorded files are currently in a .au format and there are over 700 of them. is there any way to easily construct these back into one project?

With the later Audacity 1.3 version, Audacity will usually do a pretty good job of recovering automatically. With the older 1.2 version, a bit more effort is required and there are no guarantees.

One important thing is that if you restart Audacity, it will probably report "orphaned files" and offer to delete them (what makes it worse is that it says that it is "safe" to delete them. In the case of trying to recover data after a crash, it is NOT SAFE to delete them. These "orphaned files" are your last chance of recovery, so DO NOT DELETE them.

Hey dude why dont you use Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software which supports more than 300 file format..Give a try may be it will help you alot..Good Luck

Comp45 has not apparently lost his/her files - just lost/mangled the project structure - So the Data Recovery psoted in the last thread is not likely to help. I would recommend following stevethefiddle's advice.
