Hi, I just installed Audacity for Mac, and am using a M-Audio box for recording.
It hooks up to the computer via USB cable, and I have went to the Mac preferences
and it shows up well, with the sound coming in.
Unfortunately, I can't record anything to Audacity.
Does it not accept USB line in?

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: M-Audio won't work on Mac
It does. But sometimes it's a little wacky to get it going. Check out Go > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. Then dig around inside Audacity Preferences. As a starting point, set everything in sight to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Audacity 1.2 defaults to 44100, 32-bit, Mono and won't connect to much of anything.
Here's what happened when I got my USB microphone to work. YMMV.
