Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Exporting to itunes. Does not recognize separate tracks,
I recorded a double LP and named each separate track. However, it shows up as a single track when I go to itunes. I've used both wav and aiff, even exported as multiple tracks. Does anyone know how to solve the problem? I don't want the LP to be one continuous song either on my ipod or on a CD that I would burn.

Re: Exporting to itunes. Does not recognize separate tracks,
I can't find the tutorial that goes with this, but it's not that hard.
While your one long capture is on your timeline, put a Label (Apple-B) at the beginning of each song you want to push over to iTunes as a separate piece.
Then, Export Multiple > WAV and Audacity should provide you with a pile of individual music files instead of one long one. Pull all these files into iTunes, create a playlist, pull the songs into the playlist, rearrange as necessary (playlists let you put your songs in any order) and at the bottom of the playlist dialog should be "Burn Disk."
Don't put the blank disk in too soon. Wait for iTunes to request it.
I can feel you getting ready to ask me how to retain the song titles. I don't know. That's why I was looking for the tutorial. You can name and arrange the songs in the playlist and those names will appear on your iPod, but not a Music CD.
Music CDs do not have song titles. Music CDs seem to have song titles because when you put a CD into your computer, the Mac sends a request to Gracenote and gracenote.com sends the song titles back for you. "One O'Clock Jump," Glenn Miller never actually appears on the CD. As far as the physical CD is concerned, that track is track01.cda.
Some people get really lucky and their vinyl disk is also available as a Commercial Music CD and the system can figure out the titles by the order and length of each song.
It's a lot messier than you think.
