Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

I have a macbook pro (X 10.5) and am not sure whether to download 1.25 or 1.36.

Both. Up until last week, I had 1.2.5 and 1.3.7-experimental on this (Intel Mini) at the same time.

I can't use them at the same time, but they're both installed.

This is highly recommended because the Mac versions of 1.3.7 (the current version) are a little wacky.

If you do find 1.3.6, that's the one to use for a while, until 1.3.8 comes out with all the patches and fixes--that the developers are writing right now.

The rule of thumb is 1.2.5 is stable and good if you need something to record your performance, Export a Safety WAV, cut it up a little, and Export a final capture WAV file. If you need heavy processing, then that's where 1.3.x shines, but have that backup WAV of your work in case Something Happens.

Audacity doesn't Save sound files.
