I have browsed through several topics and couldn't find anyone with a problem similar to mine.

My computer is not a Mac, but a Hackintosh. I wasn't sure if I should post this on the Windows board or Mac board, so if I put it in the wrong place, I'm sorry.

When I downloaded Audacity, not only it didn't play the sound of the tracks in the program, but also all my webpages (both in Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer) don't play sound; webpages like youtube, lastFM, and others, simply don't play the sound, even though the timeline is moving forward.

I have tried to follow the Audacity wiki steps to reset the audio device settings, but not only I couldn't find a "Do not modify audio device settings (such as sample rate)" check box in the program's preferences, but also I don't know how to access the audio settings of this computer, since it doesn't operate neither as Mac nor as Windows.

I tried to reinstall Firefox too but the problem persists. I don't even care about keeping this program anymore- I'd just like to have the sound on the online pages back up.

If you followed the Hackintosh Mantra, then you have all the supported hardware and this should be simple.

Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input and Output.

Set these for the modules you want to use, like Line-In or Headphone Out. If you have wacky sound hardware, then you will have wacky settings or maybe no settings and you're on your own.
