Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Sound quality

Hi,

Im new to audacity and I apologize if this is a stupid question or its a repost, but iv been trying to solve this on my own without much luck even tho i know its probably something simple. Anyway I recently downloaded Audacity in order to record mixes from my mixer. I have my mac book pro hooked up with DJ software (torq connectiv), to two CDJ 200's and a Numark 5000 mixer. I have been able to record in Audacity, however the sound quality is very poor, and does not get any better when I export the file to itunes.

Any help on increasing the sound quality would be very much appreciated, I know im a newb but really need to figure this out!

THANKS

Without digging through all the web pages looking, how does the torq connectiv connect to the Mac? USB? Analog?

Whatever it is, you need to select it in...

Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input.

Restart Audacity and you may need to select the same thing in Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O.
Restart Audacity again.

People who say the words you did usually got stuck recording from the built-in Mac microphone, not the sound mixer electrical input.
