HELP! Audacity saves projects without the icon

Hi all
I've just started using Audacity with my Ion Tape2PC converter, on my Mac, with OSX 10.4.11. I saved a handful of files from tapes but I can't reopen them in Audacity to edit them. I noticed they don't have the Audacity icon picture on the .au file. So, when I try to open them in Audacity, I get 'error 2' "can't open file, no such file or directory". Is there something I'm not doing correctly that causes Audacity to not save the project correctly? Please Help!!!

It's good to know how Audacity Projects work.

The AUP project file is a laundry list of all ingredients you need to make your show. It's almost in English and you can read it in TextEdit. Here's a simple one...

Since there isn't any audio inside the AUP file, the sound must come from all the capture clips, AU files, effects snippets, and all the original songs you included in your show. Once you save a Project you can't move anything because the AUP file will not be able to find it.

Did you "clean up" a little after your captures? You should never know what or where the AU files are. Those are internal housekeeping files subservient to the AUP file. Open Audacity and File > Open the AUP file associated with your project. Don't double click the AUP file.

If you moved stuff around after the capture, then you need to move it all back where it was to get the Project back.
