Shifting Multiple Tracks Together

I know this must be really easy but I just can't figure it out. I have a number of tracks of which I would like to move two of them to another spot simultaneously so they stay synchronized. Anyone know how I do that?

If the tracks are next to each other, click and drag across the tracks to select all the tracks that you want to move.

If the tracks are not together (for example track 1 and track 3) then you can either rearrange the tracks (click below the track name and drag up/down) or you can select an area of one track by click and drag, then hold the SHIFT key down and click below the name of any other track (SHIFT+Click toggles the selection). When you click below the track name, take care not to nudge the volume or pan sliders.

Once you have selected the tracks, switch to the "Time Shift Tool" and drag them Left/Right.

Thank you for getting back to me. I've tried what you suggested a number of times but the two tracks still move independently. This is what I do. I select each track by clicking on the box to the left that has mono, mute, etc. (both are now selected). I select the time shift and move it to one of the tracks. It only moves the track it is on. I've tried holding down "shift" as I do this and still only one moves.

I've only got Audacity 1.3.6 on my computer at the moment, but I was pretty sure that you could do this with Audacity 1.2.x as well - maybe not (can anyone confirm if this is available in Audacity 1.2.x or not?).

Why not try Audacity 1.3.6?

IIRC this functionality is only in 1.3 and was not available in 1.2.

In 1.3 the is a new Link Tracks tool (icon is a little chain) to assist with this process.

That's a new feature in 1.3.6 and is not available in earlier 1.3 versions.
One little note about that - there is a known bug that can mess up Nyquist effects (lowpass/highpass filters, crossfade,...) when you have the "link" feature enabled AND a label track present.

I tried this on both 1.2.5 and 1.3.6 and I never get to move all tracks at once! I try to select/highlight/whatever in all ways possible and when I select the Time-Shift-tool I always move only the track I am currently pointing at. (And what exactly does the "Link tracks" button in 3.6 do?)

EDIT: OK, I seem to have got it. I deselected "Link tracks" and did the whole thing again. It worked.
