Hi i have downloaded 1.2.5 intel on my 1 year old mac book.
i am importing audio files in wav format from my zoom H2
To begin with all is fine say after three times of cutting various parts or highlighting for an effect it then ceases to allow me on most of the drop down tools and greys them out so i cant select edit or even save.
I have binned and reloaded the program once.
the second version is the same.
any ideas please?

Hmmmm. That's how I do it on an Intel Mini.
<<<I have binned and reloaded the program once.>>>
That may have given you a warm feeling, but it didn't reload the program. To get that, you need to bin the audacity.cfg file wherever your computer put it. You know you have a fresh Audacity when it asks you for English at First Birthday. If you truly have no valuable custom settings or other programs, you can bin the whole audacity folder under User > karina > Library > Application Support.

Open one of those up in QuickTime Player and Apple-I. What does the INFO panel say?
When I explode the downloaded program into the actual operating files, I create a new folder called "audacity," pull all the files over to it and push that folder into /Applications. There are other ways to install Audacity, but that one is the most stable. If you need "lame," put that in the plug-ins folder.
Launch Applications > Utilities > Disk Utilities. Select your hard drive and Verify Disk (don't repair it) and when that's done, repair permissions. Sometimes a permissions issue will give you the problem you have.
