audacity downloaded but won't open

I have a mac OS X 10.4.11 and purchased an Ion turntable TTUSB05. I inserted the disk with 1.2.6 and opened it. The instructions said to drag the audacity folder to applications which I did. The box opened on screen indicating that it did download into the application file I had made. But when I click on it in applications, a box comes on saying that there is no default application specified and to choose one. I don't know what should be chosen or if I need something I don't have to open it. Is the turntable supposed to be hooked up and on when inserting the disc? Or does that matter.

According to the Audacity download site, for MAC OSX you may need 1.2.5 and NOT 1.2.6 (depending on whether you have Intel or PPC) - see
http://audacityteam.org/download/
You can download 1.2.5 from the link I have just posted for you - and no you shouldn't need to have the TT attached or on when installing Audacity.
UPDATE: a quote from a well-informed poster on a different thread I just readkozikowski wrote:Newer Intel Macs use Audacity 1.2.5, not 1.2.6. Koz

Glad we got you working ok.
BTW, it's worth bookmarking that link I posted as it's where you'll be able to get future updates to download.
