When I use Audacity 1.3.6 to record from my turntable, I can export to MP3 , but although a file with .mp3 extension results, it does not seem to be a real mp3 file. It keeps the Audacity icon in front of it and when I copy it to my MP3 player, it is on the SDHC card, but the player does not find it. Anyone know a solution to this?
I have an iMac with Leopard on it and Intel processor.
Export to MP3 does not result in real MP3

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

While the song is on your desktop, open it in QuickTime Player and press Apple-I to get an INFO panel. What does that say?
