You write like you're right on top of all this. We have to divine a lot from not only what the poster says, but the way he/she says it.
Basically, close everything, unplug the USB turntable and restart the computer.
Have you ever been in Mac Preferences? Click on the little Apple in the upper left.
System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input > Line-In. Close the panel.
There are a couple of parts to buy in order to connect your turntable to the computer with analog audio cables rather than the USB digital connection. Macs have terrifically good analog inputs and they happen to be compatible with the analog connections on most, if not all USB turntables.
We don't know of any USB turntable that doesn't have analog outputs, or at least none have shown up yet.
This is the place where I wrote down the parts you need. You may not need all of them, depending on your turntable. You can go into your instructions to find out where the "HiFi Outputs" are...

Since it's the USB Digital connection that drives computers crazy, this rewiring will give you a plain, non-digital turntable that should make it through all the rest of your records in good order.
If it doesn't, or you get stuck, write back.

Re: Audacity error 13
Thank you.
I'll give it a try. I'm sure I'll be smarter in the end. Will let you know how it turns out.

Re: Audacity error 13
Using your instructions, I switched my USB turntable to analog, and it seems to be working OK.
I should be able to finish my project.
Thank you very much.
