Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Will not record using HWDigidesign Core audio
I cannot get Audacity to work, I'm using An Intel Mac Pro, with an M box sound card and Core audio, I can hear the audio, but it will not register on the vu meters, then again on some preferences I can see the vu meters but the sliders don't work to set input, and even then Audacity does not record. I have tried every available preference setting with no result. Audio works with all other programs.

So you can see the bouncing light sound meter in Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input? Does your USB device show up there?

I don't know about Macs, but on Windows Digidesign use some very weird sound card drivers.
By default a few programs will work with the drivers, but to get other programs to work requires that the application is listed in the Digidesigns part of the Windows registry (Uugh).
If you are unable to resolve the issue here, you may need to seek advice from Digidesign. I think they have a support forum.

Well, No actually, in fact when I open that up, it shows the device with "the selected device has no output controls" also the global sound immediately cuts out. Any ideas?

Try upgrading Audacity to the 1.3 version
This has been reported as a solution by others (Google is my friend).

I would suggest you try Audacity 1.3 and set up Digidesign at Mac hard
disk > Applications > Utilities > Audio-MIDI Setup. Setting up in the Apple
Menu > System Preferences > Sound is not sufficient. You must also match
all sample rate, number of channels and bit depth settings in Audacity,
Audio-MIDI Setup and in any control software Digidesign has. Please note
that Audacity does not support ASIO due to licensing restrictions, only
CoreAudio, so to use Audacity for multichannel recording your hardware
must be able to give you multiple channels using CoreAudio.
