Thanks for the answers to my previous question on line input level using Audacity on the iMac. I'm pretty well to the point of "rolling" on my records and tapes but had one more nagging question -- Should I leave the line output level on the iMac's system preferences at about 65% as it came from the factory in my case or should I max it out the slider all the way to the right (100%) as would have been the case with my old tape recorders for this application?

Line Out level doesn't affect capture. Most times, the only Out you have is "internal" which works out to be laptop speakers or the headphone jack. In any event, the output level changes with the two volume keys on your keyboard. Poit, Poit, Poit up and Poit, Poit, Poit down.

There are slightly exotic times when output matters. If you are using WireTap or SoundFlower to capture an internet show, then the speaker volume control is part of the circuit. The Poit sounds will appear in the recorded show.
