I have created tracks from an LP which I would like to add to my iTunes library.

I converted them first to MP3 format and had them exported into my iTunes library. When I open the library using Finder, I can see the tracks, but iTunes refuses to find them. I then tried to export them using AIFF for Apple. Again I can see them in Finder, but iTunes cannot find them.

I read in the Tutorials about using iTunes to convert files from AIFF to MP3, but the instructions must be for an older version of iTunes, and I cannot find anyway to do this. I have iTunes version 8.0.2.

There are a bunch of slippery words in there. When you captured your vinyl performance, did you Save the Project and then Export As MP3? Did you take the opportunity to break up the performance into individual songs? We'll get to that if you didn't.

I personally would not go through the MP3 step. iTunes doesn't need it and it causes additional damage.

Do you have iTunes set to always copy new music into the iTunes folder or library? It takes a lot of sting out of iTunes music management if you do that. iTunes > Preferences > Advanced.

Select one of your fresh, new Audacity MP3 files--like from your desktop (not the iTunes folder)--and File > Open With > iTunes. Did that work? If iTunes wasn't one of the options, or it still didn't work anyway, then you may have damaged MP3 files.
