Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Audacity on intel Imac

Post by jazzfan1950 » Thu Jun 16, 2011 11:09 pm

I just installed Audacity 125 on my imac intel. I creted a new project, imported audio from a pre-recorded file, and when I click play I get " Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate"
The output device settings under preferences correctly identify my firefly 808U audio interface.
Can anyone help? Also, If I set the Audacity preferences to built in audio and mic, it then plays without errors.
Thanks in advance
Armando

Sample rate mismatches and/or 1.2 not being fully compatible with modern external devices. I suggest you read this and upgrade to 1.3.13.

Thank you so much, Gale. I installed the version you mentioned, I read the article you pointed out to me and now, my audio interface is "talking" to Audacity.

I don't know if I should create a new thread here, or not. I tried adding dxreverb (anwida), But I am not getting anywhere. Can you help again??

Thanks again

Armando

Check that the VST effect is designed for MacOSX. I don't think that VST effects that have been made for Windows will work on Mac OS X.

As far as I can tell from their web site, DXReverb is Windows only, and while DXReverbLite is said to work on Windows and Mac, it appears to be Mac PPC only. The page for DXReverbLite says it is a universal binary. I can't test on Intel so I'm not sure.
