Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and why I can't seem to get an input signal on Audacity with this CEntrance MicPort Pro. I've been playing around with Mac audio /devices preferences and also the Audacity preferences and so far...nothing. I set the Mac recording input preferences to CEntrance MicPort Pro and played around with various "Quality" settings in Audacity since every time I do so it,I get a message that says basically to check input settings and sampling rate which I do and round and round I go....
I know I must be missing something pretty basic but still can't record on Audacity with this thing.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Ed

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: CEntrance MicPort Pro Audacity and Mac OS X
A good start is to set everything to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. That's the Music CD sound standard and it's a common as dirt. Restart Audacity if you change anything like that.
While you're messing around in Apple > System Preferences, do you get the bouncing blue sound meter when you select your device for input and play music? The cool thing about that panel is the sound meter. If you can't make that meter jump, that's the whole story. Audacity will never do anything.
If the meter does jump, it's a matter of getting the settings right.

Oh, right. I have the Shure version of that. They don't support 32-floating which is Audacity's default. Switch to 16-bit (you may need mono instead of stereo) and restart Audacity.

Re: CEntrance MicPort Pro Audacity and Mac OS X
If you have any trouble past those simple changes, you should probably upgrade to Audacity 1.3. Audacity 1.2 doesn't get along very well with OS-X.
Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported,
patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can
be unstable on newer computers.
Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here...
http://audacityteam.org/download/
You can install both audacity 1.2 and Audacity 1.3 on
the same computer, but only use one at a time.
Audacity 1.2 will not open projects made on Audacity 1.3.
If you use MP3 or some of the more modern audio
compression formats, get Lame and FFMpeg software
from the same web site. Do not use older software
or software from other web sites, even though they
may have the same names.
