Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Wont let me import file from folder

Post by jahbuzzz » Fri May 20, 2011 4:22 pm

All of a sudden - I have to drag a file to the desktop and import form there - how annoying!
Anyone know what this is happening?

From the Audacity wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mac_B ... me_support
Applies to: Audacity 1.2.x versions only
There are bugs in the Mac version of wxWidgets, called wxMac, that can affect Audacity. One bug involves Unicode support: because of this bug, Audacity stable 1.2.x versions cannot work with files or folders located inside a directory named with non-ASCII characters (usually international or accented characters). There is an additional artificial restriction of file name length, limiting your file names to 32 characters despite support in OS X for much longer names. Upgrade to the latest 1.3.x version for Unicode and long file name support.

Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported,
patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can
be unstable on newer computers.

Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here...

http://audacityteam.org/download/

You can install both audacity 1.2 and Audacity 1.3 on
the same computer, but only use one at a time.

Audacity 1.2 will not open projects made on Audacity 1.3.

If you use MP3 or some of the more modern audio
compression formats, get Lame and FFMpeg software
from the same web site. Do not use older software
or software from other web sites, even though they
may have the same names.
